Short free courses to help teachers in class
Free online courses that count toward a microcredential will soon be available to teachers who want to improve their skills in areas such as teaching phonics and managing classrooms.
These courses, which are backed by evidence and created by experts, seek to empower instructors and have a beneficial impact on the results for students.
Over three million dollars will be provided by the Albanese government to the University of Adelaide in order to fund the creation and delivery of these courses.
These completely free microcredentials will play an essential role as important routes for the professional development of educators, school personnel, and educational administrators.
In addition, the University of Adelaide’s School of Education will accept these microcredential qualifications as credit toward post-graduate study awards for teachers.
This effort is in alignment with the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan and extends the Government’s Engaged Classrooms program, which offers free classroom management resources to teachers.
The first phase of an investment totaling $5 million in evidence-based microcredentials for the professional development of teachers is scheduled to begin the following year with the debut of these online microcredential courses.
The benefits of the courses are highlighted by statements made by Jason Clare, who is the Minister of Education. These statements emphasize the courses’ ability to improve the learning outcomes for students as well as its assistance for both new and seasoned educators.
