How to Apply for TSC 6,000 Replacement Vacancies for Teachers.
TSC Advertisement for 6000 Teacher Replacement Slots. To replace teachers who have left the teaching profession owing to natural attrition, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will advertise 6,000 replacement seats.
During the 64th Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Annual Delegates Conference (ADC), which was held at Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa, Macharia said that the replacement would be conducted in compliance with the TSC code of regulations.
Over 10,000 instructors are expected to depart TSC’s employment by the end of December after reaching the mandatory retirement age, which coincides with the announcement.
While many of the retiring instructors are classroom teachers, some are school administrators.
However, after teachers protested a chaotic replacement process in the previous fiscal year, people will be interested in how the Commission handles the teacher replacements next year.
In September 2023, TSC obtained a budget of Sh 2.5 billion from the Treasury to hire and replace 6,000 teachers.
But instead of announcing the openings to the public, the Commission quietly gave the seats to MPs and politicians to occupy in their respective districts.
To get a job, some teachers had to part with up to Sh400,000. Even though the replacements were incompetent, corruption and cronyism continued.
This action is thought to be Kenya Kwanza’s way of rewarding politicians who support its agenda.
TSC reverted to its gloomy past, when politicians meddled in Commission operations, such as the hiring of teachers, which was fraught with discrimination and widespread corruption.
Without completing an internship, a few of the teachers were hired on permanent and pensionable conditions.
Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary for Education at the time, was in charge of the backdoor teacher recruitment.

During an event in Kisii County, Machogu was seen live giving job letters to teachers. Sylvanus Osoro, another politician, was also discovered in his home with a number of employment letters.
The president of Kenya dismissed his cabinet, including former chief secretary Ezekiel Machogu, as a result of the Gen Z protests against poor governance.
Before being hired on a permanent basis, teachers must first complete a minimum of one year of internship, according to TSC.
The purpose of the one-year Teacher Internship Program is to prepare and maintain the skills of those preparing to enter the teaching profession.
The program’s goal is to place jobless registered instructors in educational institutions where they will receive coaching, mentoring, and exposure to real-world teaching situations.
Although most of the present intern teachers have been with the company for two years, the internship will last for twelve months.

An internship with a teacher is not a paid position. However, a monthly salary of Kshs. 20,000/= will be available to interns affiliated with junior secondary institutions.
Statutory deductions such as NHIF, housing levy, and NSSF, if applicable, will be applied to the stipend’s payment.
Teacher interns who successfully complete the internship program will receive a certificate.
Twenty thousand junior secondary school teachers were hired by TSC last month for internships. In January, the teachers will be assigned to schools.
It has been confirmed that 46,000 teachers who are now on internship terms would be working on new terms starting in January 2025.
