JKUAT Student to Be Arrested for Supposed Roommate Murder
A student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) who was detained for allegedly murdering his roommate on Sunday night is set to be arraigned at Thika Law Court.
On that fatal night, it is stated that architecture student Josphat Nyambuga struck Arnold Otieno, 21, in the head with a blunt object, causing him to collapse and die.
According to Juja Sub-county police officer Phyllis Muthoni, the suspect covered the body with a bedsheet and hid it beneath the bed without notifying anyone.

“After we got the report on Monday at around 8 pm, we visited the scene and found the suspect in the same room, living with the body of the deceased,” Muthoni told Citizen Digital.
The suspect subsequently admitted to killing the student of telecommunications engineering, telling the police that the victim’s return to the room while drunk and unruly sparked an altercation that resulted in his death.
Nyambuga was apprehended and detained at the Juja police station as authorities continue to collect additional evidence to charge the culprit.
In the interim, Otieno’s remains was taken to the General Kago funeral house in Thika.
