(PSC) Public Service Commission shortlists 477 applicants for PS jobs

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted 477 applicants for Principal Secretary positions. In a statement on Thursday, the commission’s corporate communications officer Browne Kutswa said over 9,000 people had submitted their applications.

The Commission shortlisted 477 applicants out of 9,154 that applied for the positions whose application deadline had been extended from September 20 to 27, 2022,” said Kutswa.

According to the statement, the interviews will be conducted from next week. “Selection interviews to fill the advertised positions of Principal Secretaries in the public service will be held between October 12 and 22, 2022, following the conclusion of shortlisting of applicants by the Public Service Commission,” he said.

Names of the shortlisted candidates will be made public on today Friday, October 7.

“The full list of applicants, shortlist and interview schedules will be posted on the Public Service Commission website and the names of shortlisted applicants will be published in the print media on Friday October 7, 2022,” said Kutswa

Members of the public have been asked to submit their views on the suitability of the shortlisted candidates to the Public Service by email to psinterviews2022@publicservice.go.ke before the date of interview as part of public participation in the recruitment process.

The interviews will be conducted at the head office in Nairobi and the names of successful candidates will hereafter be forwarded to President Ruto for consideration for appointment PSs as provided in the law.

According to President Ruto’s architecture of government some of the key ministries are Prime Cabinet Secretary under Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi which will require three PSs to be in charge of Internal Security and National Adminstration, Correctional Services and Citizen Services.

The Ministry of Defence, whose designated CS is Aden Duale is the only one which will have a single accounting officer as it has only one PS. The National Treasury to be led by Prof Njuguna Ndung’u will be manned by two PSs steering the dockets of Finance and Economic Planning while Foreign Affairs which is scheduled to be led by Alfred Mutua as CS will have a PS for Foreign Affairs and another for Diaspora Affairs.

At the same time, should former Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa be approved by Parliament as CS Public Service Gender and Affirmative Action, she too will have two PSs to take care of Public Service and another for Gender and Affirmative.
