TSC NEW SALARY SCALES FOR TEACHERS BASED UPON JOB GROUP AS INCLUDED IN THE 2021–2025 CBA
TSC compensation and benefits.The 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) amendment was agreed on August 28, 2023, by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET).
The agreement has looked at teacher compensation, which will start to be implemented on July 1st, 2023, in two (2) phases.
For instructors who are on duty on July 1, 2024, the second phase will start.
As of July 1, 2023, this Circular shall be applicable to all teachers employed by the Commission.
When switching to the new pay scales, teachers will retain their current incremental dates.
Instructors will receive their annual raise on the current salary scales before switching to the new salary points on the same date, nevertheless, if the incremental date occurs on July 1, 2023.
All teachers will continue to receive annual pay raises in accordance with the 2015 Code of Regulations for Teachers.
The grading system and designations as described in Table 1 will continue to be used.
Following the evaluation, the updated salary structure and conversion tables will be as displayed in Tables 2–12 attached to this Circular.
Four (4) groups of house allowance rates are distinguished, namely:
Cluster 1: Nairobi City
- Cluster 2: Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru Cities, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Malindi and Kitale
- Cluster 3: Other former
- Cluster 4: All other
House allowance rates for Clusters 1, 2, and 3 have not changed. Cluster 4 tariffs, on the other hand, have been evaluated and will be introduced in two stages.
TSC salaries and allowances
The first phase was accounted for in the August payroll, with arrears backdated to 1/7/2023.
