MoE Reveals Cheating Prevention Plan Before Exams
The Ministry of Education has said that it is committed to addressing the issue of cheating during national examinations by taking steps to close any loopholes that may currently exist in the system. They have put measures into place to prevent students from gaining unwarranted access to examination materials.
During a press briefing that was focused on preparing for exams, Education PS Belio Kipsang openly recognized that one of the contributing elements to cheating has been providing teachers with early access to exam papers when they collect them in the morning. Concerns have been expressed as a result of the policy that allows teachers to pick up tests at six in the morning and keep them… As a response to this, we have decided to now deliver exams twice in order to reduce the possibility of early exposure.
In addition, the PS noted that they have increased the number of examination centers, which accomplishes two goals at once: it shortens the distance that needs to be traveled to deliver exam papers to schools, and it reduces the probability that students will have early access to information that will be on the exam.
