Manufacturing/Production IT Engineer

  • Location; Nairobi

As a manufacturing/production IT Engineer, you will be part of our IT Systems department where you will be supporting our 40+ staff in M-KOPA’s local phone assembly plant. You will be responsible for creating, implementing production robotic solutions to improve operational performance, along with trouble shooting production machinery, thus supporting and enhancing system’s capability. Ultimately the role would evolve under an IT business partner lead to support critical processes within the production supply team.

It is an on-site role in our local phone assembly manufacturing site in Nairobi, Kenya. You will be reporting to the IT System Manager.

  • In your work you will provide first-class support to the assembly line, supporting operations and personnel to guarantee maximum uptime including like the following
  • Ensure proper SOPs are followed during the startup, shutdown and maintenance of all IT/robotic-related assembly line equipment
  • You will plan with the manufacturing team the implementation of robotic upgrades, maintenance and re-tooling requirements to maintain optimum production
  • Ensure timely backups of all critical IT systems are taken, tested and properly stored to guarantee minimum RTO and RPO
  • Assistance in general IT requirements as required

We’re excited about you because you have experience with:

  • IT support within the assembly line and exposure to IT Operations and manufacturing environment
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Robotics in industrial network architectures
  • PC maintenance and in-depth understanding of IT/OT security requirements
  • Design and implementation of industrial networks including VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls & ACLs
  • Design, implementation and administration of enterprise solutions such as VMware, Windows Hyper-V, SQL Server, Windows server & desktop Operating Systems, Active Directory and FTP servers
  • Chinese manufacturing methodologies and suppliers or you may speak Mandarin
  • You hold a diploma in IT, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering

Factory Manager

  • Location; Nairobi

JOB PURPOSE:

Supervise production operations of the smartphone assembly plant in order to ensure that production output is achieved, within acceptable quality standards, and efficiencies.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

(Main activities undertaken by the jobholder and reflective of the most important features of the job)

  • Drive continuous improvement of factory operations.
  • Deliver production output in line with targets
  • Establish and execute quality control processes to ensure quality assurance throughout the production process
  • Administering stock controls by ensuring that stock control systems are kept up to date and necessary adjustments of inventories are made accurately
  • Ensuring that factory machinery is in good working order and Implementing machine maintenance operating procedures to maintain required productivity levels and adherence to quality standards
  • Analyzing production data to identify and resolve any production issues.
  • Preparing production reports with recommendations on improvements
  • Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to track SLA & target adherence
  • Motivating factory workers to continually achieve factory targets.
  • Resolving any factory-related issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security within the factory, including ensuring the safe use of equipment
  • Set factory operations goals in collaboration with management and other team lead
  • Spearhead Kaizen (6S) implementation and sustainability in all factory operations

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS & COMPETENCIES/ LICENCES & CERTIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION REQUIRED

(Minimum level of experience, skills and competencies, licences & certifications and education required to perform effectively in the role)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience working as a Factory Manager, Plant Manager, or a similar position
  • Professional certification in Production Management and Quality Control.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of safety regulations and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of electronics industry-specific factory equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to multitask simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding managerial skills.
  • Good decision-making skills and logical thinking abilities.

Employment Law Counsel

  • Location; Nairobi

JOB PURPOSE:

Support all M-KOPA markets with end-to-end employment-related issues.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide strategic legal guidance and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including recruiting, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, pay equity, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, privacy, contingent workers, and immigration.
  • Review, develop and maintain employment practices and policies and provide guidance on drafting and development of HR policies and procedures.
  • Draft and review employment-related agreements, templates, and employment contracts.
  • Create, conduct, implement and provide guidance on labor and employment-related training and education of labor and employment-related topics.
  • Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance of employment laws in jurisdictions M-KOPA operates in and Monitor developments of such laws to ensure continued compliance
  • Participate and where necessary manage employment-related litigations against the organization working with outside counsel
  • Handle discovery for litigation matters including collecting and reviewing documents, providing guidance to outside counsel, and engaging in strategy discussions with internal and external counsel.
  • Manage and/or provide counsel on employment-related investigations in partnership with human resources, internal audit, fraud, or other departments
  • Support special projects for the company, including but not limited to compliance, litigation management, reporting, and other projects.
  • Assist with employment-related due diligence, queries for transactions, and from stakeholders.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Paralegal

  • Location’ Nairobi

The Paralegal assists with case planning, development, and management, legal research, interviews clients, gather facts and retrieves information, drafts and analyzes legal documents, and collects, complies, and utilizes technical information, to make recommendations.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct ad-hoc legal research, reviewing and drafting simple legal documents, and providing support with general legal, compliance, and company secretarial matters;
  • Support M-KOPA in achieving its regulatory, contractual, and shareholder obligations across all entities.
  • Assist in conducting staff training programs, design tools to re-enforce a culture of compliance
  • Develop, review and implement company policies and procedures that meet national and international laws as well as sector-specific rules and regulations outlined by relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Staying abreast of any changes to laws or sector-specific regulations and keeping the rest of the company up to date with any changes through communication and training.
  • Providing support to any investigations or audits into company compliance.
  • Provide general leg advice and support to the business with the aim of minimizing legal risk.
  • Working closely with HR and management teams for consistent enforcement of policies and when responding to compliance violations.
  • Assist in the management the compliance tools such as the compliance obligations register, compliance training calendar, compliance incident register, and compliance risk register.
  • Assist with general legal tasks as needed to meet department and organization priorities.
