Kisii County ECDE Teachers Threatened by Fire
The ECDE teachers in Kisii County are being threatened with being fired. Kisii Governor Simba Arati has issued a stern warning to the local Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers, saying that he will consider firing them if they go on strike on September 14, 2023. At this time, educators in Early Childhood Development Education are being hired by county governments.
They claim that the Kisii County government has ignored their complaints about issues like as low pay, and that these ECDE teachers had previously informed the police of their intention to strike before they actually did so.
In his address to the citizens of Kisii town, the Governor stressed the availability of qualified but unemployed Early Childhood Development and Education teachers who are willing to stand in for their colleagues who are organizing a protest. He gave the impression that anyone who took part in the walkout was endangering their employment.
A commitment was made by him that children would not be prevented from receiving an education even if there was a strike going on. He said that his administration would deploy volunteer teachers to fill the breach.
Additionally, Governor Kisii emphasized that the County Public Service Board, which is no longer in existence, was earlier utilized to transmit the problems of teachers, which resulted in delays in locating responses.
