Education CS fighting PS for top TVET position
Education CS is battling PS for a top TVET position. There was a substantial disagreement between Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and his Principal Secretary for TVET, Dr. Esther Muoriou, about a prominent position within the ministry.
According to a report by Dr. Muoria, the minister was not pleased with the appointment of John Kiplagat Tuwei as interim director of technical education. In response, Machogu issued a letter underlining the dire ramifications of Dr. Muoria’s refusal to modify his previous appointment.
“Similarly, any failure to comply with approvals, directives, or instructions issued by a duly appointed and officially commissioned Director of Technical Education who is competently discharging his duties will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant legal, regulatory, and policy framework.” Machogu stated this in a letter obtained by People Daily.
The issue heated up after PS Muoria introduced John Kiplagat Tuwei as the director of Technical vocational training TVET, despite the fact that the job had previously been approved by Dr. Opwora, who was nominated by the Minister of Education.
“Furthermore, failure to comply with the approval, direction, or instructions given by the Director of Technical Education, who is competently performing his duties and has been duly represented, will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant legal, regulatory, and policy framework.”Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, stated in a letter to Citizen Digital.
Principal Secretary Muoria was pushed back late last month after a meeting in which John Kiplagat nominated Tuwey as Director of TVET, despite the fact that the job had been confirmed by Dr Opwora, who was appointed by the Minister of Education.
