KCSE Rehearsals to Begin as Primary Schools Prepare Materials
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) preparations are well underway, with the final exams expected to commence soon. Thursday, October 19, 2023, has been assigned as a rehearsal day for the 903,260 KCSE applicants, according to the 2023 KCSE test calendar.
The actual exams will begin the next week on Monday, with oral questions in French, German, and Arabic, as well as practicals in Kenya Sign Language and Music. Physics practicals will culminate the KCSE exams on Friday, November 24th.
Candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will, on the other hand, have their rehearsals on Friday, October 27th, 2023.
In preparation for the three-day national exams, most primary schools have already received examination materials. The KCPE and KPSEA exams are set to begin on October 31st and end on November 1st, 2023.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has verified that arrangements to deliver national examinations to a total of 2.3 million learners, comprising KCPE and KCSE applicants, have been finalized. The KCPE exam will be taken by around 1,415,315 candidates, while the KCSE exam will be taken by another 903,260. In addition, KNEC has prepared for 1,282,574 Grade Six students taking the KPSEA.
During the rehearsal day, invigilators and supervisors are responsible for ensuring secure storage of examination materials, inspecting examination rooms for compliance with Council specifications, briefing candidates on proper exam conduct, and assigning duties to invigilators to ensure the smooth administration of the exams.
