NYS Recruitment Schedule is released by CS Moses Kuria.

According to Moses Kuria, cabinet secretary for public service, performance, and delivery management, the National Youth Service (NYS) recruiting drive will be held between February 5–9, 2024.

In order to maintain transparency and equity, CS Kuria demanded in a letter to NYS Director General James Tembur a meticulous distribution procedure across all wards.

“As the National Youth Service (NYS) Recruitment Exercise draws near, which is set for February 5–9, 2024, it is critical to guarantee a just and open procedure in the allocation of candidates among various wards,” he declared.

“This methodical allocation has been formulated to advance equity and impartiality, mirroring the fundamental principles of the New York State in cultivating national cohesion.”

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the recruitment procedure that specifies how NYS recruits are assigned to wards.

Kuria went on to list other rules that needed to be followed during the hiring process. These included making sure that the schedule is distributed to all parties involved, emphasizing the value of upholding integrity, professionalism, and adhering to the schedule, reporting any inconsistencies, and putting in place regular monitoring and reporting mechanisms.

Furthermore, the CS confirmed that choosing this course for recruit distribution will promote equity and public trust.

“This thorough approach to recruit distribution will reinforce public trust in the fairness of the process and contribute to the overall success of the NYS recruitment exercise,” he said.

The orders were issued over two months after President William Ruto declared that his administration will increase the number of NYS trainees admitted each year, from the existing 10,000 to 15,000 every cohort.

He stated that the goal of this was to enroll 100,000 students annually for the following five years.

“We are graduating 10,000 this year, 15,000 in the first cohort the following year, and 15,000 in the next cohort the following year.”

Thus, as we position NYS as the incubator for all other branches of government, 30,000 young people from across Kenya will graduate from NYS alone next year,” Ruto stated at the time.
