Govt Announces Free Scholarships in Hungary and China With Tuition & Monthly Upkeep.

The Ministry of Education has announced free scholarship programmes offered by the governments of Hungary and China.

In a notice dated Tuesday, the Ministry noted that the scholarships offered by both countries would cover undergraduate, master and post-graduate degree programmes.

Under the programme, Hungary will offer scholarships to 200 Kenyans with the recipients set to receive monthly stipends.

According to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, beneficiaries will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh18,850 in addition to annual medical cover.

Beneficiaries will also be offered free accommodation for their entire course study.

Courses highlighted for the scholarship programme include; general medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, architecture, law, veterinary surgery, forestry engineering.

“At these levels, 30 Hungarian higher education institutions are engaged in the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year, with about 800 study programmes in foreign languages (taught mainly in the English language),” read the notice by the Hungarian government.

“Study programmes are generally available in English and Hungarian languages, with some programmes offered in German and French as well.”

The application window will close on January 17, 2024.

China

The government of China is also offering opportunities for Kenyans to study various programmes ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate degrees.

Some of the degree programmes being offered include medicine, marketing, tourism, music, economics, and computer science among others.

Qualified candidates for undergraduate programmes must have attained a minimum KCSE mean grade of B (Plain) and be 25 years and below.

One is also required to have an original KCSE certificate and completed secondary education in the last three years.

“Interested applicants should visit and apply online through the official website of the China Scholarship Council; campuschina.org and click Scholarship Application for Students.

“This will require one to create an account. Under the program category, Select Type A and the Agency Number is 4041,” the Ministry advised.

Applications must be submitted by December 8.
