Senior Interns Have Hope After TSC’s Announcement
Senior Interns Have Hope As TSC Makes This Proclamation. According to the Kenyan constitution, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is responsible for overseeing many elements of the teaching profession in the country. This involves duties such as teacher registration, recruitment, promotion and transfer management, and guaranteeing timely wage disbursements.
TSC administrators have been working hard to get additional funds to solve the growing teacher shortage and create more options for career progression in the teaching field. They are also fiercely campaigning for compensation hikes for Kenyan primary and secondary school teachers, acknowledging and praising their dedication and hard work.
Since 2019, all teachers who begin their careers as interns have been legally accredited as permanent, pensionable employees, which is a significant step for Kenyan teachers. This achievement considerably improves the job security and financial stability of these dedicated instructors.
Furthermore, in February of this year, TSC launched a recruiting campaign, bringing in approximately 20,000 trainee teachers, primarily for primary and secondary schools. This project seeks to give critical assistance in the country’s transition to the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
While some of these newly employed teachers are currently on probation, plans are in the works to ensure that all trainee teachers hired in February will eventually be placed in permanent positions with pensions. This shift is predicted to have a significant influence on the Kenyan teaching job market.
All trainee teachers now working as interns (Senior) in primary and secondary schools are expected to get formal letters certifying their shift to permanent, pensionable positions before the start of the 2024 school year and teacher replacement.
These programs demonstrate TSC’s proactive and forward-thinking attitude to protecting Kenya’s educational future and ensuring the well-being of its dedicated teaching personnel.
