Teachers Get 14,738 Promotional Letters from TSC

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently appointed 14,738 people to various educational leadership posts throughout the country. Chief Principals, Principals, Deputy Principals, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, Senior Masters, and Senior Teachers are among those who hold these positions.

TSC has taken initiatives to encourage educators’ professional development. Over 1,900 letters of promotion have been sent to county school leaders. Many counties have already begun the process of sending out posting letters to these newly promoted teachers.

There were some delays in sending out these letters following the conclusion of the interview process. However, the newly appointed instructors are fortunate to have received their letters in advance. This allows them to prepare for their new assignments and begin their responsibilities in the forthcoming academic term.

It’s worth mentioning that TSC advertised for teacher applications for these 14,738 positions in December 2022, but then deleted the advertisement. Due to a lack of candidate interest, the commission reopened applications in January, March, and May of 2023. As a result, a considerable number of teachers in senior teaching positions are currently awaiting confirmation.

Many teachers who successfully completed promotion interviews in March and were shortlisted for coveted positions have yet to receive their assignments. This information is available through the TSC database, which is available at county and sub-county directors’ offices.

According to a TSC senior official, the delays are due in part to the incremental delivery of monies from the treasury, which has hampered the commission’s capacity to speed the process.

Nonetheless, TSC remains committed to progressively promoting and placing educators as long as the appropriate funds is secured. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia voiced her unhappiness with instructors who did not receive promotions, underlining that it is their obligation to pursue opportunities for progress. Macharia has also asked teachers to be willing to seek promotions in other counties.
