Exciting Update, MoE releases 2023 Term 3 Academic Calendar

The Kenyan Ministry of Education has distributed the school calendar for the third term in preparation for the 2023 National Examinations. The calendar includes the following essential information:

1. On October 30th, 2023, all schools are scheduled to begin administering tests.
2. The third academic term of the school year 2023 began on August 28th, 2023, and is slated to conclude on October 27th, 2023, in order to provide students with adequate time to study for the approaching national examinations.

3. In order to guarantee that the examination period goes smoothly, it is recommended that parents make the required preparations for their children and work closely with their children’s teachers.

In addition, the Principal Secretary of Basic Education for the Ministry of Education, Belio Kipsang, has stressed that schools should refrain from partaking in activities that involve parents during this period of time. This includes activities such as days of prayer, visits, and sessions with motivating speakers in preparation for examinations.

The government is dedicated to preventing any disruptions to the learning that takes place throughout the third term. In order to back up this initiative, the government would pay all of the necessary capitation money to schools.

Capitation payments totaling Ksh16,249,982,722.28 billion are distributed to students enrolled in public primary, junior, and secondary schools as part of the money that the government provides for education. In terms of capitation, junior secondary schools would be given 1.75 billion Kenyan shillings, free elementary education will receive 1.56 billion Kenyan shillings, and free day secondary education will receive 12.9 billion Kenyan shillings.

By the 20th of September in 2023, it is anticipated that these funds will have been wired into the individual school accounts in order to facilitate activities that are more focused on learning and to ensure the seamless execution of the school calendar.
